In collaboration with the Beirut Bar Association, the Commission holds a legal seminar for trainee and practicing lawyers

Thursday 9 October 2025

The National Anti-Corruption Commission, in collaboration with the Beirut Bar Association, organized a legal seminar titled “The Implementation of the New Law on Assets and Interests Declarations and the Punishment of Illicit Enrichment.” The event took place in the Grand Lecture Hall at the Beirut Bar Association’s headquarters on Thursday, October 9, 2025. The function was attended by a number of trainee and practicing lawyers.

This initiative comes as part of the ongoing coordination between the two aforementioned parties, and within the framework of the cooperation between the Commission and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the “Anti-Corruption for Trust in Lebanon” project, implemented with the support of the European Union and the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark.

The seminar aimed to shed light on the new illicit enrichment law, highlighting key aspects related to the practical application of its provisions. It also featured the analysis of real-life examples and the examination of both theoretical and field cases, thereby strengthening participants’ understanding of the practical framework of the law and their ability to address the challenges that may be encountered at its implementation phase.

Delivered by a group of specialists in the legal field, the seminar started with remarks from Commission member Judge Thérèse Alawi, followed by presentations from lawyer and former MP Ghassan Moukheiber, and Dr. Tillmann Hoppe, who brings extensive academic and professional expertise in law, judiciary, anti-corruption, and parliamentary work. The event drew active participation and lively discussions that made the session engaging and insightful.

As the seminar concluded, the Commission and the Beirut Bar Association expressed their commitment to continuing joint cooperation in organizing seminars and workshops aimed at developing lawyers’ competencies and raising the level of professional performance in the legal sector.
