The Commission Brings Together a Group of Journalists for a Roundtable in Partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ)

Thursday 3 July 2025

As part of ongoing support to strengthen the role of the National Anti-Corruption Commission as an independent oversight body, Germany continues to support the Commission, particularly in enhancing the Right to Access Information, implementing the Whistleblower Protection Law, and promoting integrity principles within public institutions.

In this context, the Commission, in collaboration with its partners from the German Embassy and a group of journalists from various local media outlets, organized a roundtable on Thursday, July 3. The discussions emphasized the vital role of independent media in promoting transparency and the duty of public administrations to proactively disclose information.

The Commission reiterates its appreciation for this constructive partnership with the German side, which contributes to the reform process and the promotion of good governance in Lebanon. The Commission also underscores that sustainable recovery and rebuilding trust between citizens and the state can only be achieved through strengthened transparency and accountability, with the media serving as a key and effective partner in this mission.
